FIRST AID & Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) Courses

It is a requirement for every organisation to provide first aid facilities and personnel to administer first aid for their staff. The DFES and HSE have given guidelines that state that schools should consider pupils when looking at their first aid needs. A rough guide for the number of first aiders needed is for every 50 employees (Staff & Pupils) you should have 1 qualified first aider. For more advice on your first aid needs please contact us.

HSE First Aid at Work – This course follows the syllabus as laid down by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) for the designated first aider. The course is run over 4 days and is an intense course looking at a wide range of first aid subjects. The course is very interactive and run in a fun and informative way whilst providing delegates with all of the information they may need to help make them safe, prompt and effective first aiders. The course is suitable for delegates aged 16+, and the qualification is valid for 3 years where a 2 day Requalification must be taken.

•	Ø Appointed Persons First Aid – This is a 1 day course looking at basic first aid. The course is suitable as a back up to the qualified first aider. We have tailored this course to suite the needs of the education sector. The certificate is valid for 3 years and is suitable for delegates 16+.

•	12 Hour Paediatric First Aid – This 2 day course looks at first aid for young children and babies as required by OFSTED for all early years staff. The course looks at basic first aid but is aimed more at treating children and babies and includes childhood ailments.

The qualification is valid for 3 years and the course is suitable for anyone 16+

•	Scout & Guide First Response First Aid – This specialised course for Scout & Guide Leaders looks at basic first aid in a scouting setting. This course is run by scout leaders. The course is a mandatory qualification for your warrant card.

•	First Aid For Young Learners – We are able to run bespoke courses specifically for young people. Our instructors have a wide background of working with young people in different settings.

Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) – This course looks at the effective use of AED’s and gives delegates the knowledge of when it is suitable to use an AED, the maintenance of an AED and the operation of an AED. The course is run over 1 day and the qualification lasts for 1 year. This course is suitable for people aged 16+.

CIEH level 2 Food Safety Certificate

It is a requirement that anybody who handles food has been trained in effective food safety practices. This 1 day course looks at all basic food safety issues and focuses on keeping food safe and wholesome. The course is suitable for people aged 16+ and it is recommended that delegates refresh their knowledge every 3 years to ensure that good practices are being followed.

CIEH Level 2 Health & Safety
It is the responsibility of the employer to ensure that staff are aware of their health & safety responsibilities, and that staff are trained in basic and effective health & safety practices. This 1 day course looks at basic health & safety but structuring it to delegates specific job roles. For more information please contact us or view our web site.

Training in the Effective Use of Storysacks
Our trainer is an experienced trainer who has a vast knowledge of the Storysacks concept, the product and it’s uses. In her previous role she was involved in running training sessions for schools in the proper use of Storysacks. They are an excellent way of encouraging children's reading development and involving parents in this. Storysacks are also widely used in the classroom as a great resource. The course is suitable for parents or staff working with Storysacks and is tailored for your needs.

Aggression & Conflict Management Courses
It is becoming more common for staff to have to deal with aggressive situations, whether it is from students, parents, other visitors to the school or other staff members.

CIEH Level 2 Aggression & Conflict Management Course (available from September 2007 taking bookings now) – This course looks at the reasons and triggers behind aggression and conflict, and can give delegates the tools to be able to recognise potentially explosive situations, how to try and defuse them and keep yourself safe. The course is not a self defence course but is a theoretical course to try and prevent the situation getting to the point where self defence may be needed.

Self Defence (available from September 2007 taking bookings now) – This course looks at practical self defence when the conflict management strategies have broken down, this course will look at how to keep your self safe. Courses are tailored to your needs. This is not a restraint course.

CIEH Professional Trainers Course
This qualification is essential for anyone wishing to become a CIEH registered trainer. It is ideal for anyone who needs to understand the basics of training practice or wants to refine their training techniques. It encourages a flexible approach to training delivery which takes into account recent advances in accelerated learning and neuro-linguistic programming (NLP). Successful candidates will be able to structure, design and deliver interesting and stimulating training courses.
