The National Anti-Vivisection Society

The National Anti-Vivisection Society (NAVS) is the world's premier group campaigning against animal experiments, and for the introduction of humane, safer, technically superior non-animal techniques. Our work includes: publicity events and campaigns; undercover investigations; scientific research; political lobbying; education; keeping the issue in the public eye through the media; and funding non-animal research.

NAVS believes that animal experiments cannot be scientifically or morally justified. Our research indicates that animal experiments are flawed; that medical progress is not reliant on animal research; indeed that animal experiments are misleading and have even delayed medical progress. The fundamental flaw of animal experiments is species differences. All species respond differently to different chemicals. There are structural and physiological differences between species, which affect the outcome of experiments, making them unreliable as a predictor of likely effects in humans.

Animal experiments are UNRELIABLE, UNETHICAL & UNNECESSARY.

Contact the NAVS and find out what you can to do to help consign animal experiments to the dustbin of history, where they belong - for the sake of both people and animals.

Visit our web-site www.navs.org.uk for the most up-to-date run down on our activities.

The Animal Defenders

The Animal Defenders is an international welfare and conservation organisation working to alleviate cruelty and suffering, as well as conserving and protecting animals and their environment.

Our work includes; Investigating reports of animal suffering and abuse; exposing situations where there are no regulations to protect animals/ where abusers are breaking the law; we support sanctuary projects; we provide parliament and the media with evidence of animal suffering through video and reports; we make educational programmes, and publish literature to alert the public to animal issues.

As the leading campaigners against animal circuses, the group undertook an 18 month study into the use- and abuse- of circus animals, which led to convictions of cruelty against leading animal trainer Mary Chipperfield.

Legal loopholes in the UK leave circus animals without the minimal protection afforded other captive animals.

Animal Defenders recommend:
- a complete ban on the use of all animals in circuses;
- Permanent Training quarters to be drawn under the 1981 Zoo Licensing Act.

PLEASE HELP US END THE USE OF ANIMALS IN CIRCUSES…
