If you have on-site purpose built sports
facilities they you are extremely fortunate as you are amongst the
minority and one of the lucky few. Over 80% of football facilities in
the UK is played on temporary pitches. You are therefore, left battling
with storage and lack of time or even worse in the case of football
using no goal posts at all!!

The following should
come as very good news for the thousands of schools, colleges,
coaching schools and even touchline parents who have almost lost
fingers through frostbite taking nets down after an 8-0 home defeat
by the best team around on a freezing morning in February.
Redyset has revolutionised the market with portable goalposts which
can be inflated within minutes. This is not football’s answer to the
bouncy castle, however. Launched at Soccerex in Dubai last November,
60,000 IGOALS are being produced in China this year. |
 |
They are made of PVC with a terelyne sock inside which encases
another tube of PVC, a system the British Army use for their
dinghies. Carried one-handed in a kit-bag, the goals are pumped
up with an integral net – the goals come with a ONE YEAR
GUARANTEE.
Robust enough for competitive play but made of lightweight
material to help avoid injury, IGOALs have been developed over a
2 year period to overcome the issues that football coaches at
all levels told Redyset they find with portable goals :- |
1. It can take up to 25 minutes of valuable
lesson time to set-up and dismantle other portable soccer goals.
2. There is never enough storage facilities for other goals.
3. Need to cut short the lesson at the end of your sessions to put
equipment away so that children can go to next lesson or go home!
4. When posts are taken down in the summer what do older teams use for
posts during training?
5. Wear out your goalmouths because you can't move larger goals around
and end up with mud!?
The good news on this which every PE teacher and coach wants to hear
are answered by IGOAL!
1. Goals take less than 5 minutes to build – so unpack, pump up and play
football – it really is that easy!
2. Portability and storage is made easier – you can fit multiple goals
in shed or even boot of a car!
3. No need to waste valuable coaching time – everyone goes home quicker!
4. There is no longer a need to use cones for goalposts – you can play
football anywhere, anytime with these goals!
5. Not anymore because we can do shooting practice anywhere into full
size goals that are easily portable!

The 12’x 6’ goals
used for Mini Soccer are frequently put up and down on the day while
the 21’ x 7’ goalposts, requiring separate pitches, tend to stay up
for 11aside football. The IGOALS offer flexibility in pitch size,
avoid stacking issues and offer greater safety. “Where they benefit
is that, even if they did come away from their moorings, they won’t
cause a fatality,” Steve Williams, the FA’s national facilities
manager, said.

Football is the global game partly because it’s so easy to play:
all you need is a ball. But while jumpers for goalposts are all
well and good, you really can’t beat the satisfying swish sound
of hitting the back of the net. Durable, lightweight and safe –
imagine the new dimension this could add to the football
programmes at your school? |
The IGOALS, produced by
www.redyset.com,
have been successful tested and passed by the British Standards
Institute with the Junior (12’x6’ – 7v7 U10’s) and Intermediate (16’x7’
– 9v9 U12’s) conforming to BS:8462:2005 and suitable for match purposes.
They were also trialled in a Lancashire youth league in the 2006/07
season. In August 2007, the Junior 12’x6’ IGOALs were used at Wembley in
a national children’s tournament. “The best part was when a goalkeeper
made a save and fell into a post,” Peter Rose, head of IGOALS, said.
“The post bent backwards, the goalkeeper sprung up without a graze and
the goal followed him.”

The goals have been sold across the UK and
are also available from various distributors worldwide. Redyset have
also been approved in principle for inclusion on the Football Foundation
Goalpost Safety Scheme along with their partners Huck-Nets – so look out
for details of this shortly. Peter Rose says “The IGOALs are being used
at all different levels with several major clubs putting them to good
use within their Football in the Community programmes and also schools
and colleges aswell as amateur clubs – many of these have been happy to
give us testimonials for the goals which you can read on the
website where you
can also watch the video of the goal in action!”
