How to play badminton and what you will need?
Badminton is a racket sport played on a rectangular court. Courts can be found in schools, universities, leisure centres, badminton and mixed sports clubs around the UK. You can find rackets available in most sport shops across the country.

Clothing:
Shorts, T shirt or sports shirt and a warm top are all you need

Footwear:
Sports socks and comfortable badminton shoes or trainers with a good sole to obtain a grip on the floor are important. Black soles on the shoes are not allowed

Shuttlecocks:
These are plastic or feathered. If you are just starting, plastic shuttlecocks are ideal and cheaper. They come in three speeds, fast, medium and slow. Buy medium speed to start with until you know more about the game

Rackets:
These are made of various lightweight materials.

Within Badminton England there are departments for Elite Play, Events, Membership, Development and Coaching.

Badminton England closely liaises with the 41 Counties of England to provide support to the club and league structures.

The goal of badminton England is: To develop badminton as a sport for all, and to encourage the best players to progress up through the rankings both at club, County and International level.

Badminton England has set itself targets in respect to areas such as equity, elite play, competitive play, coaching, development, membership etc. Please visit The Badminton Association of England Ltd, web-site for full information.
