Beale Park was set up
initially with conservation of the site itself very much in mind. Church
Farm is a 350-acre organic farm, which is managed under strict control in
order to maximise its conservation value. There are now whole areas that
are directly related to conservation. The breeding of rare & endangered
birds, a 40 acre Community Woodland called Tookie Wood, and has placed
most of its land in the Countryside Stewardship Scheme.
Beale Park is actively involved in both conservation and breeding projects
for indigenous and exotic birds and animals. For example there is a
project concerned with the breeding of water voles, an endangered species,
designed to build up a colony, which will then be released into the wild.
Tookie Wood is community woodland that has been developed since the mid
1990s. Permissive paths and trails are available for the public to enjoy.
For events at Beale Park, with free river trips, arts and craft stall,
