Case
Study
Nkuumwa the chimpanzee
Nkuumwa was young when her mummy was killed and she was snatched from
her forest home and sold as a pet in Uganda. Luckily the traumatised
little chimp was rescued and after a lot of care started to recover.
Nkuumwa is now one of over 44 chimpanzees living on Ngamba Island
Chimpanzee Sanctuary. Born Free is one of five Trustee organisations
helping to ensure every chimp has a secure and happy home. |

Wildlife Clubs:
Born Free runs Wildlife Clubs at 15 Surrey and Sussex schools,
encouraging children to explore local environments, make things to

"The girls loved (the wildlife clubs) _ the new ideas, the 'extra'

Educational materials:
Born Free's cross-curricular resource file 'Celebration of Wildlife' is
for Primary Phase Years 5 & 6 and includes Animal, Habitat, and
Conservation & Welfare Fact Sheets, plus Tasks and Activities.
"The materials are very enjoyable, as well as being stimulating and
informative. Roary's Fantastic Animal Facts in Section 2 of the pack
should be great fun for young children to discover."
Tony Blair, Prime Minister
"I was thrilled to receive a pack of this calibre, so in tune with the
curriculum. The pack is well organised to access appropriate materials -
well done!"
Jane Inight, St Nicholas CE Junior School
