Welcome
The British Council for Chinese Martial Arts (BCCMA) working title 'the Council' would like to extend a warm welcome to all Students, Clubs, Associations of Clubs, or Federations of Associations of Clubs, practising the Chinese Martial Arts in Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
It would also like to extend an invitation to you to join the 'family' of organisations already represented and become a full member of your Sports, Governing Body.
History
'The Council' was set up in accordance with the Sports Council's guidelines in 1973 and was granted Sports Council recognised Governing Body status, in 1990. It has a current membership of some 116 Organisations/Associations in membership, representing over 10,000 members across all of the major disciplines of Chinese Martial Arts. We are responsible for choosing the British teams that represent our sport in all European and word competitions. We have achieved Olympic recognition and are hoping to get into the 2008 games for which the BCCMA will choose the team. Its Constitution sets out the organisational make up and management structure, with an elected Executive and Technical Committee who are directly responsible to its members via a Members Council which meet at least once a year at an Annual General Meeting (AGM). Members have the right to dissolve the 6 man Executive Committee and 8 man Technical Committee at any time giving due regard to the time requirements and process of the constitution.
