Bukima Adventure Tours
Overland Expeditions and Safaris in
Africa, the Middle East and South America.
What makes an over-landing so special?
In my experience people who come on overland tours are adventurous and outgoing but do not want to travel on their own/independently for several reasons - the most obvious and important being lack of local knowledge and uncertainty of risks and security. Over-landing provides the safety and security of personal belongings, knowing where you're staying and where your next meal is coming from as well as the invaluable experience and knowledge of the crew. We can be totally self sufficient on the truck for several days and this allows us to discover remote areas inaccessible to independent travellers. Our roll back roofs provide unrivalled game viewing in the National Parks of Africa. The hassles and worries of independent travel are taken away giving the passengers more time to do what they came to do - discover, enjoy and experience. Making new life long friends are a bonus too!

Can you describe any particularly memorable moment from a previous trip?
Being awoken in the Serengeti at 2am by the whole truck vibrating from the two lions roaring underneath it. The passengers, thankfully, remained calm and in their tents but certainly our hearts were beating a little faster. On checking the paw prints the following morning we estimated that there had been approximately 12 lions, lionesses and cubs wandering in between and around our tents. Maybe a little too close for comfort but what an encounter!
