and that any information required by the client can be provided

friendly and effective service to all our clients.
We cover a geographical area of the Midlands, South and South East of
England.
Chiltern Sports construct two main surface categories, these being All
Weather Tarmacadam and Artificial Grass Carpet, offering a complete range
from a dedicated sport to Multi-Use. We offer a comprehensive package from
initial site inspection and appraisal through design and build to final
completion and hand over.
There
are two main grades of tarmacadam that we utilise. The first being
specifically for tennis courts and the other a more hardwearing tarmacadam
for Multi-Use Games Areas. The only difference between these two materials
is that fewer fines are sifted out of the 6mm aggregate to produce a more
hardwearing surface for the MUGA’s. The tarmacadam surface provides a
medium to slow playing surface and is therefore very popular with
residential clients.
Artificial grass carpet is a far more versatile surface that can be
specific to an individuals needs. Artificial grass is available from a
slow surface to a medium fast surface. The speed of the surface is
determined by three main factors:
-
‘Pile Height’. This refers to
the height that the grass fibres stand proud of the surface from ground
level. The taller the pile the slower the surface plays, as there is more
friction and resistance on the ball when it bounces.
-
The quantity and grade of sand
used. The more sand that is spread over the surface the less bounce the
ball will have. By the same token the grade of sand must be taken into
account, the finer the grain used the faster the play.
-
Quantity of fibres per square
metre. The higher the number of fibres per square metre, again the greater
resistance working against the ball thus making the court slower.
It is imperative to listen to
the needs of each individual client to accurately assess what they
require. By varying the above three factors and taking into account the
clients requirements it is possible to achieve a surface that is specific
to the clients needs.
