For the
athlete it always begins with a dream.
Running faster, jumping higher, throwing longer; beating your personal
best then getting gold and a place in the book of sporting legends. |

Christians
in Sport is a missionary organisation with a vision to see Christians in
every sports club, representing Christ and building the Church.
Currently in the UK, 45% of adults and 87% of young people participate
regularly in sport, yet the Government has set an even more ambitious
target to introduce the equivalent of 100,000 new participants to sport
every month until 2020. In January 2004 Christians in sport began
implementing four priorities, which will be foundational to the vision of
seeing Christians in every sports club, representing Christ and building
the Church, for the next five years:
1. Motivating Christians to represent Christ at their club.
2. Supporting churches to prepare their sportspeople to represent
Christ.
3. Training leaders to support associate churches.
4. Enabling the work through prayer, finance and operational
support.

Christians in sport are currently running a gap year training course
through the youth department. They are in the process of finalising
arrangements for conferences in Wales, Ireland, Scotland and England,
which will provide opportunities for training and development.
“Sport has the power to change the world, the power to inspire, the
power to unite people in a way that little else can. It speaks to
people in a language they understand."
Nelson Mandela, Former South African Prime Minister. |

Internationally, they have been fully involved in the development of the
International Sports Leadership School (ISLS) in South Africa, and will
continue to contribute to the development of national and regional
training schools being prepared for 2006 by the International Sports
Leadership Training network.
