Electronic Punching and Timing system (EPT)

This system is developed in association with the Norwegian and Swedish orienteering federations. The definitive breakthrough came in 1995 when EPT was used in all major international orienteering events including the WOC in Germany. The Norwegian orienteering federation then decided that EPT must be used at all IOF-E. EPT consists of a start unit that resets and activates the e-card, the e-card that the runner uses to 'punch' at the controls, electronic controls and a reading unit that reads the information in the e-card when the runner has finished.

Software

We can offer software: for many sports, either our standard eTiming software for orienteering, road races, or cross country races, or by custom design software for larger races.

EMIT Electronic Punching System
Main features & advantages
  • World leading system with over 120.000 units sold.
  • World’s fastest punching system. Data transfer within 1/20th of a second. Verification of punching given.
  • Lowest cost electronic punching system. Comparable purchasing cost, but lower operating cost than others.
  • Read times directly from your Ecard after downloading
  • Completely sealed - no maintenance on controls. Battery last for 1000 hours
  • Integrated mechanical/electronic backup system.
  • Reset and start in one operation, not separate actions.
  • Battery warning and power control.

EMIT’s profile has risen sharply in the UK recently since it has been used at the National Outdoor Centre at Glenmore Lodge, Aveimore. Used for a World Championships in 1999 in Scotland and now confirmed as the preferred electronic punching timing system for the British Army for three main reasons:

1. Robust and ‘soldier-proof’ able to stand being roughly handled.
2. Proven to be more reliable, especially at extreme temperatures.
3. System is simple to operate and can be used without a computer

Emit ECard gives split times and chip timing for all sort of sports.

Emit's new chip timing system was been used for a wide range of races since 2002. EmiTag is a chip system with low cost and easy setup. Drammen Marathon had 42 split times and Oslo Half Marathon had 21 split times.

Display on e-cards gives fast punching and immediately split times.

Version 3 of emit e-cards, on sale from 2002, gives many improvements to electronic punching. The display gives you the possibility to check correct punching while you compete and the display tells you if you visited the correct location. After the race you can use the display and a scroll button to step through your splits. Display e-card also has features such as count down to start and hands-free punching.

ET5 Matching and finish clock

Based on EMIT ET4 matching clock is the Emit timer ET5, the ultimate tool for team managers /leaders and race organizers. ET5 provides you with ski testing, matching and finish clock with printout.

Future Developments

1. Proximity punching is a new way of timing for a range of sports and activities. Emit already make extensive use of their larger Eline wireless controls, with ranges from 5 to 500m, for large races and also for smaller running, cycling, cross-country skiing and increasingly orienteering events. With these smaller versions the competitors must pass within one metre of the control.

The E-card display confirms you have punched successfully. An integrated battery powered electronic control panel 20x20 cm is mounted on one panel of the control flag. System allows much faster punching than other systems and is suitable for a wide variety of sporting and educational activities.

2. Online Entries System
EMIT UK have recently acquired the capability to offer an online entry system and have created the website link at www.ntrees.co.uk This will allow those using EMIT to direct entrants to a website where they will be able to make their entries online, paying as necessary by credit card.
