The Fitness Industry Association (FIA) is the UK’s
representative body for gymnasia and leisure centres. Their
function is to promote exercise activity in the widest sense.
The FIA’s principal beliefs involve more people, being more
active, more often.
That means it is not just about going to the gym for a work out
a couple of times a week: it means taking the stairs rather than
the lift or escalator, it is walking the dog, it is committing
to activity as part of a healthy lifestyle, across the nation,
for all ages from the young to the elderly.
As the industry trade body, the Fitness Industry Association (FIA)
represents all organizations within the fitness industry. There
are currently over 2000 operator sites in the public and private
sectors, as well as 200 supplier organizations as members.
The FIA is the key industry body, representing both the
interests amongst consumer and businesses as well being an
interface with the Government so there really are real benefits
to being a member.
