The Hanley launch Child Trust Fund

Parents wishing to take full advantage of the Government's new Child Trust Fund savings initiative need to look no further than The Hanley. We care about the financial wellbeing of our young people and so we are delighted to be an approved provider of Child Trust Fund accounts. Building on our strong reputation for long-term savings, The Hanley has one of the most competetive packages on the market with a headline interest rate of 5.5% tax-free. As well as our low-risk savings account, The Hanley is one of the few building societies offering a full choice of either stakeholder or non-stakeholder CTF accounts invested in stocks and shares. All children born on or after 1 September 2002 will automatically qualify for a £250 voucher from the Government and families receiving full Child Tax Credit will receive up to £500. The Government will pay a further amount when the child reaches seven.

 

Aimed at encouraging children and their families to save for the future, the Child Trust Fund initiative will give young people a nest egg they can use when they reach 18. Once an account is opened, family and friends can add up to £1,200 every year, boosting the child’s tax-free total. When they reach 18, the young person can spend the money on whatever they choose or watch it grow in a building society savings account. Opening an account is a real opportunity for families to build a valuable sum for their child’s future, particularly if they add the full amount to the account each year. The Hanley has a strong track record in providing long-term savings and we aim to offer a very competitive tax-free rate on the deposit based account.

Already attracting more than 25,000 visitors a month, The Hanley’s website www.thehanley.co.uk has been given a completely new design with many features added to help you keep up to date with your accounts and The Hanley’s range of services.

We have increased the number of interactive services, including on-line travel insurance, mortgage payment protection and building and contents insurance quotations.

This flagship service is called ‘My Accounts’, an on-line interactive accounts system which allows you to view all of your Hanley mortgage and savings accounts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via a secure web connection. My Accounts not only helps you to stay up to date with all your accounts, the system also provides an opportunity to keep you informed of news and events at The Hanley. We currently have hundreds of customers viewing their accounts on-line using our free service.

This kind of on-line service, usually only provided by large banks or building societies, is our way of providing you with an innovative and forward thinking customer service.

The Society has backed a range of initiatives throughout Staffordshire that reflect its commitment to the community and people who have supported the society over many years.

As an independent mutual Building Society the community is an integral part of our business, and by being involved in projects that have a wider impact on the community we often enhance prospects for younger people and improve our environment.

The Hanley is also proud to work with many schools in North Staffordshire & South Cheshire. For a number of years The Hanley has sponsored educational awards and competitions. The Society supports work placements for students of all ages and has actively supported University placement students during their degree/hnd courses.
