The London Aquarium is the capital's only world class display of global aquatic life and is also one of the largest displays in Europe. With over 350 different species, 40 living displays and a huge variety of educational tours, talks and feeds our award-winning education department provides in-depth knowledge and first-hand experience of aquatic life for all ages.

The Marine life here comes from all over the world but many species need specialist care and attention like 'Mazawabee', the only Zebra shark in the UK and 'Mr. T', our baby Loggerhead turtle.

If you are interested in keeping your own fish the following suggestions are a start:

  • Before you buy, research and learn as much about the fish that you want to keep as you can. Learn what to feed them and when, how to clean the tank and their general care.

  • When you buy, check to see that the shop you are buying from has no dead or sick looking fish and ask the shopkeeper as much as you can about the fish you want. Ask them to feed the fish - any inactive fish at this point are probably not healthy.

  • Start by building up your population of fish slowly. This allows healthy bacteria to grow in the tank.

Also, ask our experts - the Education department has won awards over the past 4 years for its dedication to conservation and the education of aquatic life. Tours (ave.45 minutes), workshops and teacher pre-visits can all be pre-booked and with experts throughout the Aquarium, a myriad of aquatic questions can be answered. Resource materials based on the national curriculum are available upon request for key stages 1 up to GNVQ and A-level.

School admission fees are: £3.75 per pupil
£3.75 per teacher/helper
For every 10 pupils, 1 teacher/helper goes free.

The nearest stations are Westminster and Waterloo mainline and there are coach drop-off points on Belvedere road and Chicheley street.
