School Milk Project
The benefits for children of drinking milk are well known and cannot be
emphasised strongly enough. The School Milk Project (TSMP) are concerned
with, and have met great success in ensuring these benefits reach as many
children as possible. They achieve this by funding and employing
facilitators to work with Local Education Authorities (LEAs), Schools and
Administrators to work out the best means of implementing School Milk
Schemes into their areas.

TSMP have been working
towards their goal since being set up in 1998 by the Women’s Food &
Farming Union and are funded by the Milk Development Council. Their
facilitators aim to develop practical solutions to the difficulties of
distribution faced at school level as well as initiating and promoting
links with the Healthy Schools Initiative, Community Oral Health
teams, school nurses as well as any other bodies deemed relevant. Each
of the UK’s counties have an independent facilitator, a full list of
which may be viewed by clicking here. |

TSMP’s website provides a
wealth of information for parents, schools and LEAs the content of which
is helpfully split into three different categories. Each section has its
own FAQ area providing easy access to answers on common queries.
