SIGG has been the world leader of Aluminium drinks bottles for almost 100 years. The benefits of using aluminium over other materials for drinks bottles can be summed up in four words; lightweight, robust, leak-proof, and hygienic. Each bottle is made from a single aluminium disc, which has 600 tonnes of pressure exerted on it to create the basic shape. This basic vessel is further squeezed and modelled into the final shape, the screw thread for the lid is added and the inner coating is sprayed on.

This coating is unique to SIGG and once sprayed inside of the bottles is baked on to ensure it will never come off if used properly. This coating makes the bottle 100% hygienic and prevents it from being tainted by tastes. This means you can drink anything you like from it, give it a quick wash and no trace of that flavour will remain – a common problem with plastic bottles. There are numerous sizes, shapes and graphics available – many types of bottle for many different purposes. It is for this very reason that SIGG make all their bottlenecks the same size meaning any top will fit on any bottle so any bottle is suitable for any task!

The Kids top, which appears on the entire kids range, has been specially designed with kids in mind. Each one has a dirt proof cap that will not close if the twist-top spout has not been closed properly reducing the chances of a soaking wet bag! The twist top is very easy to use – one small twist is all you need to open or close it, it has a chunky design to make it easier for little hands to use and is made of toughened plastic to try and match the strength of the bottle itself as much as possible.

2004 saw the launch of a brand new range which includes lunch boxes for the first time. They too are made from Aluminium and are kept closed with two fasteners. These lunchboxes are designed to withstand the bumps, thumps and general mistreatment that most kids mete out to their plastic counterparts, and which inevitably see them meet a premature end as corners crack and the catch breaks.
