Welcome to The Sound Post.  We are pleased to support the Education and Entertainment Network as UK and Eire distributors of The Primavera violin family of student instruments –violin, viola and cello.

Our instruments cater for all ages with students as young as three beginning with a 1/16 size violin.  Violas begin at 14” and cellos at 1/8 size. 

All instruments are available in sizes up to full size.

As the player progresses The Sound Post supply instruments of excellent quality up to the level of CH Ling and Xhen Min workshop master instruments styled after Antonio Stadavari and Guarneri del Gesù. 

The Sound Post is also pleased to support The Yehudi Menuhin School at Stoke D’Abernon.  Please see our unique set of teaching videos by the Master himself.  This collection is available direct to the public and sales provide a contribution to the School.

The Sound Post -For Musicians by Musicians

Stephen Jocelyn, a professional cellist, founded The Sound Post in 1993. Stephen had performed with the London City Ballet, the London Philharmonic and had toured with Wayne Sleep in the hit show ‘Song and Dance’.  

The Primavera range of student and intermediate violin, viola and cello outfits was introduced to provide a better quality and affordable alternative for those taking their first steps into orchestral strings.

The Primavera included innovations, such as a metal alloy tailpiece and improved pegs and bridge.
